Lithographs include various sketches by Henry Salt (1780-1827; Consul-General in Egypt 1815-1827), who in 1802 was sent to explore India, Abyssinia, and other places, by George, Viscount Valentia, (later Lord Mountnorris). Salt's sketches were published in Valentia's Voyages and Travels (1809), and Salt's own Voyage to Abyssinia (1814). Lithographs also include sketches made by the French Scientific Commission, under the command of Lt. Lefebvre, sent by the French Government to Abyssinia in 1839.
