Policy on disposal on arrival in UK of British, Commonwealth and Allied escaped prisoners of war and evaders. These files describe arrangements for handling British, Commonwealth and Allied prisoners of war and 'evaders' (defined as individuals who evaded capture in enemy-occupied territory). Individuals in these categories were regarded as potential security risks, because they could have been turned by the Germans, and there was a corresponding need both to devise handing procedures and to ensure consistency of practice between the agencies involved
