9 items, numbered 37-45: map of part of northern France, on nine sheets, covering: (37) the area between Calais, Saint-Omer and Boulogne-sur-Mer; (38) the area between Dunkirk (Dunkerque) and Cassel; (39) the area between Samer, Thérouanne and Hesdin; (40) the environs of Lillers; (41) the area between Cassel, Lille and Béthune; (42) the area between Menen (or Menin, now in Belgium), Saint-Amand-les-Eaux and Harnes; (43) the area between Hesdin and Arras; (44) the area between Lens, Valenciennes and Cambrai; (45) the environs of Bapaume and Crèvecoeur-sur-l'Escaut. Reference tables to items (37) and (41). Scale bars in toises to items (37, 39, 41-43). Compass indicators to items (37, 41, 43). [?Copied from] the ten-sheet Topographical Survey now divided betweenWO 78/1035/1, WO 78/1035/2, WO 78/1035/4 and WO 78/1035/5; the nine individual sheets correspond loosely to sheets 1-7 and 9-10, respectively, of the original survey, but the sheetlines often differ considerably from those of the original. These copies made by Ensign Henry Cole. Pencilled additions to item (41) show the limits of territory occupied by British forces in 1815. Small extensions are attached to the lower edge of item (39) and the upper edge of item (42).
