Letters patent leasing property in Essex to Peter Pennante.
Letters patent 11 Jul 17 [1575], Elizabeth I to Peter Pennante, gentleman usher of the queen's chamber, recited that by letters patent under the great seal 14 Jul 3 Eliz [1561], a tenement in Havering Grene in Havering at Bower [Havering atte Bower], Essex, and all lands, etc, belonging thereto; and 5 tenements on Le Grene and called Presthowse, and a close of land and pasture behind, etc, a close of land, meadow and pasture at Brodgate [Broadgates], partly in Havering atte Bower and partly in Stapleford [Abbots]; were leased to Thomas Smythe, clerk of the queen's kitchen, for 21 years, at £4 16s 8d and £8 6s 8d a year. By the same letters patent, the same premises were leased to Peter Pennante, in reversion, for 21 years, at the same rents, which letters patent Peter Pennante surrendered.
For surrender and fine of £20, lease in reversion, for 21 years, rents as above.
