Description

Transcript of letters patent granting property in Norfolk to Thomas Paston.

In consideration of the manor of Godalmyng, otherwise Gadalmyn [Godalming], Surrey, and the manors of Edgefild [Edgefield] and Walsyngham Magna [Great Walsingham], an annual rent of 33s 4d in Edgefield, and of 26s 8d in Great Walsingham, and of 13s 4d in Lynne Regis [King's Lynn], from the rectory of Ryeburgh Parve [Little Ryburgh], Norfolk, of 40s from the rectory of Ryburgh Magna [Great Ryburgh], etc., of Thomas Paston, esq, gentleman of the king's privy chamber, by indenture 20 Apr 33 Hen VIII [1542], between (1) the king, and (2) Thomas Paston. Grant of the manors of Blofeld [Blofield] and Beighton, otherwise Boighton, otherwise Bayton, Norfolk, (late parcel of the possessions of the bishopric of Norwich); a close of pasture called Blofeld Parke, in Blofield, meadow called Halle Medowes, in Blofield, wood called Northawe Woode, etc., in Blofield and in Beighton, and all lands, etc., in Blofield and Beighton, and in Birlyngham St. Andrew [Birlingham St. Andrew], Lyngwoode [Lingwood], Bucknam [Buckenham], Langley, Strumpeshall [Strumpshaw], and Acley [Acle], Norfolk, and the advowsons, etc., of Blofield and Beighton churches. Also all lands in Thirlton [Thurlton], Norfolk, called Denesholme mershe, Stokeholme mershe, Ennesmershe, Laundryemarshe, Jenneysholme marshe, Hurdowe marshe and Rauenshall marshe, (late of the monastery of Langley [Langley Abbey], Norfolk). Also woods, etc., in the manors of Blofield and Beighton, and all lands in Blofield, Beighton, Birlingham St. Andrew, Lingwood, Buckenham, Wykhamton [Wickhampton], Redham [Reedham], Hemlyngton [Hemblington], Halvargate [Halvergate], Hadscoo [Haddiscoe], Thurlton, Witton, Plumstead Parva [Little Plumstead], Brayston [Braydeston], Upton, Byrlyngham St. Peter [Birlingham St. Peter], Byrlyngham St. Edward [Birlingham St. Edward], Hasyngham [Hassingham], South Walsham, Langley, Strumpshaw, Acle and Thurlton.
