George MINK, aliases MINKOFF, Al GOTTLIEB (American), Abraham WEXLER (Polish), Harry KAPLAN (Lithuanian), Alfred HERTZ: American. Early member of the American Communist Party. Visited Russia in 1927 and on his return became active in international affairsof seamen's and dockworkers unions. In 1934 reported in Moscow working for Soviet military intelligence. In February 1935 arrested for espionage in Copenhagen and found to be carrying multiple false passports. On release the Russians shipped him to Leningrad. Subsequent reports suggested his presence in Spain during the Civil War and in Mexico. In 1940 KRIVITSKY named MINK as a Russian agent
