A ship's wireless operator on the route from Spain to the Americas, OLIVERA DEL RIO was recruited by the Germans in 1941 as a courier and reporter on shipping movements and also later by the Italians. His ship was intercepted in mid-Atlantic in October 1943 and escorted to Gibraltar and searched, OLIVERA DEL RIO being sent to the UK and interrogated at Camp 020, where he confessed
