Helmuth Carl Rudolf SIMONS / Otto LEHMANN-RUSSBUELDT, alias LEHMANN: German. SIMONS and LEHMANN-RUSSBUELDT were refugees from Nazi Germany who arrived in Britain in 1933. Both were actively anti-Nazi and claimed to have documentary evidence of German chemical warfare plans, a claim that aroused some suspicion (never substantiated) about their motives. SIMONS, a scientist, left Britain after a short stay, finally settling in the United States. LEHMANN became very active as an expert on German military matters, as a leading member of various German ?migr? and International Peace and anti-Nazi organisations, and as a prolific author of books, pamphlets and press articles. This file contains accounts of the pre-war and war-time activities of various anti-Nazi and peace organisations, copies of associated pamphlets and articles and LEHMANN's own account of life in Huyton Aliens' Internment Camp
