The page numbers referred to in the index to these reports (MUN 2/1B) is the serial numbering in manuscript at the head of each volume of reports. The Requirements and Statistics Department was orginally part of the Secretariat but later became independent. Its responsibilities had expanded enormously. In April 1917 an Allies Branch was established in the department. In November 1917 the department was divided into two and became a separate group with its head a member of the Munitions Council.
