Friedelind WAGNER: German. As a member of the Wagner family in Berlin pre-war, she was a fervent admirer of Hitler with whom she was on close personal terms. In Britain during the early part of the war she claimed to have become equally fervently anti-Nazi though there were doubts about the genuineness of her conversion. Consequently she was interned for a time before moving to Brazil in 1941 and then to the USA
