Bruno Maximovich PONTECORVO: Italian, British, Russian. PONTECORVO, employed on atomic projects in North America and then at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment (AERE) at Harwell in the UK, defected to the USSR in 1950 following a holiday in Italy with his family. The Supplementary C file contains photocopies of personal correspondence and other papers found in PONTECORVO's house at Harwell, including items dealing with personal administration, employment and liaison with fellow scientists including Joliot-Curie, Segre and Blackett
