HW 43/76
1939 Sep 01-1945 Aug 30
Allied Sigint Policy and Organisation by Nigel de Grey, Chapter IV. Part 1 The Government Code and Cypher School from January 1942 onwards (pages 1-264); Part 2 The Japanese War (pages 265-329); Part 3 (i) Other Sections (pages 330-381), (ii) Development of the Ancillary Sections (pages 382-496), (iii) Administration 1942-1945 (pages 497-573).
These chapter headings are consistent with the contents of this volume, rather than exactly matching the table of contents provided for the entire book in HW 43/75 (please see related material below)
This volume is draft only and there is no evidence that a final version was ever issued. The very neat pencil emendations are in Nigel de Grey's hand, the almost unreadable scribbles are by Frank Birch, General Editor of the post-World War II histories and former head of Naval Section [Deputy Director NS]
