The Traffic and Transport Planning A Division was established in 1968. It dealt with transport and land use studies in urban and rural areas. It was also involved in some aspects of the study of road pricing. Traffic and Parking Orders made up a large part of its work and it also had some responsibility for traffic regulation at airports. The Division was wound up in September 1971 and its work was taken over by the Transport and Traffic Planning Division.
