Hans Georg GEORGIADES: British Cypriot. GEORGIADES was recruited by the Abwehr in Bremen in 1942, his family having lived in Germany before the war. He was trained in clandestine radio techniques and secret writing and prepared for a naval and military espionage role in Alexandria. Transferred to Athens, his mission was overtaken by that city's recapture by the Allies. He took the first opportunity to volunteer his story both to the Greeks and to the British who after lengthy interrogation accepted that he was genuinely anti-Nazi and had been a reluctant intelligence recruit
