Hans Herbert MASSER: German. MASSER was interned in South Africa early in the Second World War on grounds of association with a group of local Nazis, some of whom were involved in espionage. He escaped to Mozambique in 1943 and returned to Germany in 1945. Detained there by Allied Forces, he was brought to Britain for interrogation at Camp 020 before being returned finally to Germany
