History of Military Intelligence Directorate, 1914-1918. This short file contains much War Office material already released in the WO class relating to the organisation of military intelligence in the First World War. It includes histories of wartime censorship (MI7) and of DMI as a whole. One item, entitled "Some Intelligence Bull's Eyes", contains examples of First World War intelligence coups, mostly achieved by the military on the continent of Europe. Another item, from MI5, gives details of codes used by wartime German spies
