Organisation and functions of Security Service Press Section and Library (A1C). The Press Section was responsible for providing a regular survey of press coverage of matters of interest to the Service and a press cuttings service to the rest of theoffice, and also for maintaining liaison with journalists who were providing information to the Service. The file contains an idiosyncratic account of his job by the organiser of the Press Section, including the statement that, during the five years that he had been doing this kind of work, he had known only three newspapermen who were well-informed and, at the same time, discreet
