HW 8/70
1941 Apr 27-1941 Oct 12
Signals from D.D.I.C [Deputy Director Operational Intelligence Centre, Admiralty] to Cdr. Saunders (GC&CS) 27-4-1941 - 12-10-1941 (Copies of signals to C. in C. Med & other commands).
The intelligence was of naval interest, but derived from air and ground forces communications and therefore issued by Hut 3 (this was long a matter of contention between Heads of Naval Section and Hut 3). Admiralty, especially in the early period of the war, reserved the right to pass GC&CS originated intelligence to overseas commands. These signals, addressed to Cdr. Saunders of Hut 3, were to inform GC&CS exactly what had been communicated.
