Description

This series consists of entry books and bound copies of out-letters of the Marine Department of the Board of Trade, 1851 to 1939, and the Marine and Sea Transport Divisions of the Ministry of Shipping, October to December 1939.

The correspondence includes: general and circular letters; a specialised series concerning wrecks; foreshores; pensions; public offices; sea transport and transport finance. Papers of the Consultative Marine Branch and a minute book of correspondence for 1857 are also included.
