Administrative / biographical background

The Royal Mint Advisory Committee was established by His Majesty King George V in 1922 to advise on all matters connected with the design of coins, medals, seals and decorations. Members are appointed by the Sovereign on the recommendation of the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his capacity as Master of the Mint.
