Description

Miscellaneous records of the Royal Mint.

The most significant records in this series relate to the Royal Mint's relations with the assay offices, 1785-1899 and to the Mint's responsibility for marketing Cornish tin, 1704-1712. There are also some records relating to the Mint's relations with the Bank of England, to the Davy Plate, imperial standards of weights and measures, lead tax, Napoleon's Plate, poor relief, the Easter offering to the vicar of St Botolph's without Aldgate, great seals and colonial seals, snuff boxes, the Tower of London, gold and silver captured at Vigo in 1702 and the Wellington Monument.
