The Mint was moved from the City of London to the Tower of London before 1300, and stayed there till 1811, when new buildings were completed on Tower Hill. In December 1968 the first part of a new Mint at Llantrisant, Glamorgan, was opened. In November 1975 this new Mint became responsible for all manufacturing when production at Tower Hill ceased.
