William Herbert GREENE, alias MIDORIKAWA: British. In 1934 GREENE was in contact with the Japanese Naval Attache in London in an attempt, he claimed, to act as a double agent for British or American Intelligence. His offer as such to the British and US authorities was turned down and he was warned that no support would be forthcoming from them. GREENE continued to pass information of a sort to the Japanese during 1935 and was paid for doing so.That year he also offered his services to the Soviet Embassy who promptly informed the Foreign Office of his approach to them
