HARLEQUIN: a senior Abwehr officer who when captured offered to give information about his intelligence activities and colleagues to MI5. He became a prime source of information on the German Intellegence Service. The wide-ranging and valuable information he supplied included the fact that the insecurity of the British Army radio communications in the field had enabled the Germans to build up the British Order of Battle in North Africa and the U.K. He went on to broadcast, under the pseudonym, for the Political Warfare Executive. This file contains HARLEQUIN'S reports and is subtitled 'Information Folder'. [See also KV/2/268.]
