Margaret Cairns JOYCE: the wife of William JOYCE [see KV/2/245-250] and a pre-war member of the British Union of Fascists, she accompanied her husband to Germany in 1939 and worked for the German Broadcasting Service, writing and presenting talks from September, 1939 to April, 1945. Claims that she had lost her British citizenship and become either German by naturalisation or American by marriage [her husband claimed US citizenship] were not held to rule out prosecution, but she was not in fact prosecuted.
