Joseph Andre Romain GOBIN, alias MADY: Belgian. GOBIN Mathilde, alias KAUSSEN: German, Belgian by marriage. He was a W/T agent of the German Intelligence Service , recruited by Joseph KOECHZING in about August 1944, who operated in Belgium until his arrest by the Allies in October 1944. He claimed to have only operated as a stay-behind W/T agent and, despite a formal process of training, to have had no active operational role in 1940-43. After some initial resistance he and his wife admitted his agent role and gave a detailed, but not necessarily absolutely accurate, account of the process of recruitment, training, handling and operational work.
