Description

This series contains copies of instruments of the Local Government Board and the Ministry of Health authorizing expenditure by poor law and other local authorities, mainly for poor law purposes such as the emigration of paupers; alterations to poor law institutions; the raising of loans and the extension of repayment periods; and the acquisition and sale of property. There are also some instrument authorising filing of casual vacancies on Boards of Guardians and various other minor matters for which official authority was necessary. There are also some authorizations for non-poor law matters such as administrative expenses of War Pensions Committee under the Naval and Military War Pensions Act 1915.
