Description

This series comprises Ministry of Health files, proper, relating to public health and Poor Law services: functions which were taken over by the Ministry from the Local Government Board in 1920. The files mainly cover the period 1920-1966. Poor law services are covered more fully after 1929, particularly in connection with administrative schemes for the administration of such services on their transfer from poor law authorities to local authorities in 1930 and the appointment of public assistance officers and staff.
