Description

Wills proved during December 1581. (Described at item level.)

Items 6 and 9 and most of item 7 were formerly part of PROB 10/4. The remaining items were recovered from among the papers of J Conway Davies at the National Library of Wales in May 1974.

Comparison with the probate act book (see PROB 8/7) reveals that this box now contains all of the wills proved at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury in December 1581, except for those of John REYNOLDS (contested, and not finally proved until a sentence in 1583), John VAN DER HOFSTADT (registered in October 1581), Elizabeth BOWER and William MARTEN.
