Possibilities of new Italian government (5718-5780); Italian Forces subordinated to Germany (5762); Italian troops in Rome capitulate (5816). Rome an open city (5817 and 6039). P.O.W. camps in Italy (5597 and 5815). KESSELRING seeking time for troop reinforcements (6190). KESSELRING proclamation (5771). Italian proof of planned German putsch (5881). CANARIS negotiating in Venice with Italian military (6236). DOLLMAN to meet RIBBENTROP (6189 and 6192). Pope increasingly afraid of Bolshevism (5802). Position of Vatican (6149). Numerous messages concerning the whereabouts of Mussolini (e.g. 5328, 5544, 5726, 5731, 5735, 5993 and 6297). Many messages concerning SKORZENY and his operation to free MUSSOLINI (e.g. 5631, 5696, 5782, 5787, 5818, 5837, 5839). MUSSOLINI order of day on his release; reorganisation of Fascist Militia (6260). SS seek revenge for treatment of MUSSOLINI e.g. Italian police officer POLITO (6212, 6262, 6394) and RFSS seek name of man responsible for forcing DUCE's doctor to draw up certificare (6185 and 6196). 5800: Jew PIAZZA has leadership of Catholic Youth in Tuscany. 5801: Baptized Jews being brought out again in Italy 6230: Gold and banknotes in Albanian National Bank commandeered 17/9/1943, gold to be taken to Berlin. 6025: TITO has orders from Moscow to act loyally, when American troops land in Balkans
