Description

TURKEY: Nos 40 and 43 from Sir H Layard. Sultan taking all power into his own hands. French Ambassadors policy: to keep Turkey going for 5 years, then to share the spoil. Opposition to the English. French and Russian agents acting together. Missing at transfer; see the Granville Papers at the British Library (reference Add MS 89317)
