The Advisory Committee on the Scheme for Approval of Proprietary Products for the Control of Plant Pests and Diseases was set up in 1942 to consider applications from pesticide producers for inclusion of their products on an approved list. In considering such applications the committee took account of factors such as safety, suitability and adequacy of product labelling, etc. In 1949 the scheme was amended and its title changed to the Crop Protection Products Approval Scheme. The title of the advisory committee was also changed to reflect this but its functions remained the same. In 1960 the Crop Protection Products Approval Scheme was replaced by the Agricultural Chemicals Approval Scheme.
