From 1950 to 1964, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food liaised directly with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation. Thereafter responsibility for co-ordinating the United Kingdom's contribution to the food programme was transferred to the Ministry of Overseas Development, for which the division acted as an agent, procuring the necessary supplies.
