Pages 253-254: GOC S Africa to Admiralty 21 August 1914: Balmoral can be got off 26 August only by leaving women and children. Could go 29th with 10 Hussars plus women and children. Can catch up escorts at St Helena. Reply, Secretary of State wants Balmoral filled up with troops and stores. Women and children to follow unless spare space.
