Prison Returns 1883: Forwards with report by Provost Marshal [not in item]; commitments in 1883 43 less than the previous year, penal imprisonment 67 less than the previous year and convictions in the Supreme Court 20 less than previous year; discusses insecurity of the Prison yard and following approval proposes to ask Legislature for a vote of money to raise the height of the Prison Walls and provide separate compartments within, so prisoners can break stones separately.
