Description (What the record is about)
-
John Wilson Croker. Are returning an application from Lieutenant Charles Jenkin and a statement of his bearings. From the Lieutenant's personal explanation, it seems he never joined the Barham, although from its books, he was there in December 1829 and lent to the Magnificent, where he acted as Mate until the end of January, when he first learned of his promotion. Give details of the establishment of the Barham. When Lieutenant F Blair was discharged to the Valorous, Lieutenant W I M Tollemache, who was intended to succeed him, was overborne. Lieutenant Charles Servante joined the Barham in April 1828 with a commission from the Speedwell. Suggest the appropriate payment due to Lieutenant Jenkin and ask what payment should be made to Officers appearing overborne.
