From William Lester, Agent for Transports, Amity, Naples to Sir H Lushington, Consul General at Naples. It is necessary for John Newport, Humphrey Jones, John Robinson, John Kirk and Charles Macklin to be removed from this Transport, so that I can proceed to Civitavecchia. 4th August 1829. From I Locker, Amity Transport, Naples to Lieutenant Lester, giving details of insubordination, which needs action taken to remove the perpetrators from the ship. Unless this happens, I will have to leave the ship, with my family, and seek passage in another ship. 5th August 1829 from Thomas Hewitt, P Collins and L B Morris, Amity Transport, Naples confirming the state of insubordination of some of the invalids and part of the ship's crew to be such that the perpetrators should be removed. 5th August 1829 from James Butten, Assistant Surgeon, the Dartmouth, Amity Transport, Naples, to Lieutenant Lester. Complains of the insulting conduct towards him by John Newport from the Isis and Humphrey Jones from the Madagascar, and the annoyance they caused to patients in his care, and asking for their removal from the ship. 5th August 1829 from Joseph Beckett,Master, Amity, Naples, to Lieutenant Lester. Gives details of the insubordination of a number of the ship's crew, which delayed the ship's departure and ask for application to be made to the Consul General for assistance.
