Description (What the record is about)
-
John Wilson Croker. When examining the account of Sir H Lushington, Consul General at Naples for 1829, there is a charge for clothing and subsistence of Humphrey Jones and John Newport, two invalided, Seamen from the Isis and Madagascar, who were ordered a passage to England in the Amity Transport, but who were put on shore at Naples, from that vessel, last August, due to their mutinous conduct on board. These expenses do not come under the Act for relieving distressed British subjects. Humphrey Jones has wages due to him for the Grasshopper. Ask whether these should be appropriated towards the expenses. The other man received the whole of his wages prior to the examination of the Consul's accounts.
