Description

William Wesley Pole. The East India Company have told the Duke of Portland that they cannot confirm the quantity of hemp which could be supplied in any year. We indicated 5,000, 7,000 and 8,000 tons for the years 1808, 1809 and 1810 respectively, will be required. There are possible supply problems and the Company suggests advancing sums of money. Have deferred entering into any agreement and ask for directions.
