Folio 208. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Humphrey Priddis, Workhouse Master of the Axminster Poor Law Union, acknowledging his letter of 26 August relating to the charges made against him in the case of Elizabeth Spiller and her children. They inform him that the statements he sent have not changed the Commissioners views and unless he resigns they will issue an order dismissing him. [The letter is crossed through with a note that it was not sent as the master has resigned.] Paper Number: 13942/A/1847. See also Paper Number: 14332/A/1847. Poor Law Union Number 76. Counties: Devon and Dorset.
