Folios 215-218. Letter from William Powell, Clerk to the Guardians of the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union, to Edwin Chadwick secretary to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing the following forms: Emigration form A relating to a 'Notice of meeting to consent to raising or borrowing money for emigration purposes' for the parish of Loughton in the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union signed by [John Athawes], Minister, William Adams and Samuel Gallard, Churchwardens; Francis Smith and Stephen Jones, Overseers. Emigration form B relating to a 'Resolution entered in Vestry Book' for the parish of Loughton in the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union, to raise £40 for emigration purposes, signed by [John Athawes], Minister and Chairman, William Adams and Samuel Gallard, Churchwardens; Francis Smith and Stephen Jones, Overseers and witnessed by R J Newton. Emigration form C relating to a 'Certificate of Minister, Churchwardens and Overseers of the Forms of the Act having been complied with' for the parish of Loughton in the Newport Pagnell Poor Law Union, certifying that £480 was raised for the relief of the poor in the last three years. [John Athawes], Minister, William Adams and Samuel Gallard, Churchwardens; Francis Smith and Stephen Jones, Overseers and witnessed by R J Newton. 9 May 1844. A list and description of those persons seeking to emigrate from the parish of Loughton to Australia. Males: Thomas Mawbey, Carpenter; Christopher Woodward Mawbey, Labourer, also noted as an orphan, Joseph Mawbey, Labourer, George Mawbey. Females: Mary Mawbey, Betsy Mawbey, Susannah Mawbey, Charlotte Mawbey, [Margham Mawbey], Sarah Mawbey. Annotated: issue order, W G L [William Golden Lumley, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Commission]. Paper Number: 6638/A/1844. Poor Law Union Number 23. Counties: Buckinghamshire.
