Folio 28: Table 2: A list of men who during the period of this journal, have received wounds or hurts which may disqualify them for the public service, or subsequently in any way interfere with their earning a livelihood. (Names and details follow). No on ship's book list 5 no 52, Samuel Ruthven (remained on board for survey), aged 27, Able Seaman; hurts on 29 April 1864, wounded while on detached service belonged to HMS Miranda, by a musket ball in the back; pension certificate granted on 24 May 1864. The following six men wounded in action in New Zealand at the same time as the above, and still served on board, will receive pension certificates, or certificates as may be necessary; certifying the nature of their wounds when they leave the ship. No on ship's book list 5 no 87, John Noakes, aged 34, Boatswain's Mate; hurts on 29 April 1864, gunshot wounded left shoulder. No on ship's book list 5 no 109, James English, aged 26, Captain Main Top; hurts on 29 April 1864, gunshot wounded left thigh. No on ship's book list 5 no 125, Michael J V Bryan, aged 25, Able Seaman; hurts on 29 April 1864, gunshot wounded left leg. No on ship's book list 5 no 49, George Claringblod, aged 25, Leading Seaman; hurts on 29 April 1864, gunshot wounded left leg (operation). No on ship's book list 5 no 168, Alexander McAlister, aged 20, Able Seaman; hurts on 29 April 1864, gunshot wounded right forearm. No on ship's book list 12 no 26, George Alton, aged 28, Gunner Royal Marine Artillery; hurts on 29 April 1864, gunshot wounded left thigh. No on ship's book list 5 no 90, Thomas Galling, aged 30, Leading Seaman; hurts on 29 April 1864, gunshot wounded right leg, according to the certificate, that came with this man from Military Hospital where he was treated & whence he was discharged cured on 19 January 1864; he was wounded at Rangariri, Waikato River, New Zealand on 20 November 1863.
