Memorial of Lieutenant Christopher Aldridge (24 years service) petitioning the Duke of Newcastle for a captaincy in one of the regiments formed for the defence of Louisbough [Louisbourg] Cape Breton). Having been obliged to build a house for himself and his family at a cost of £300 sterling, it was burnt by the enemy [the French and their Micmac allies].
