Description (What the record is about)
-
William Marsden. Mr. Hogg, owner of the Favorite tender, complains his vessel has been removed from the Carmarthen station. His vessel ought to be fully adequate for the service of conveying newly raised men from Chester to Liverpool and if the owner makes an objection to their being so employed, the penalty is to be exacted. We are concerned the implications of this incident are not fully understood. The Favourite was hired to continued in the River Fowey to provide protection of newly raised men and to convey them to Swansea and Bristol but there was a discussion about taking the ship further afield and Mr. Hogg asked for a higher fee, which was rejected. His vessel was ordered to Carmarthen and he signed the usual contract without restriction. If the Favourite was ordered to another station without Hogg's agreement, it could be considered a breach of contract. Mr. Hogg has now made two applications based on this assumption.
