Description

William Marsden. In December 1803 we queried the Order in Council of January 1802 on the regulations to be observed in regard to the examination of gentlemen for Lieutenants and received no answer. George Guy Burton attended us to take the examination having served a week as a volunteer in October 1802, having been rated Able Seaman. This was before the Order in Council. Have allowed this time as part of his 6 years service and have given him a certificate of his qualification.
