Description (What the record is about)
-
Philip Stephens. We are to give notice to the Captains of the storeships, Leviathan, Nabob, Lioness, Greenwich and Supply, that when nothing more remains to be sent to them at the Nore, they may proceed to Spithead, where they are required to be by the 1st February. The Leviathan is loading with Naval stores at Sheerness, the Nabob has sailed from the Nore with about 400 tons of Army stores, which ship should have taken in 500 tons. The Greenwich is at the Nore and has about 200 tons and have asked her Captain to receive about 100 tons from the Lioness, which is also at the Nore. When this is done, Lioness will have no stores on board. The Supply is in Longreach and is taking in the stores which came from Bremerleke, after which she will proceed to the Nore. Her Captain has been asked to inform what tonnage she has received and how much more she can take. We do not know what quantity of Army stores are still to go on these ships or from whom, or when, they are to be sent. Ask to be informed so their loading may be completed and they may get to Spithead by the time appointed.
