Description

Philip Stephens. Vice Admiral Lord Shuldham has sent an account of his disbursements in North America, whilst Commander-in-Chief of HM ships on that station between January and July 1776. There is a charge for his house rent at Boston and for wood, coal and candles there and at Halifax, there is also a charge for payment to a spy for intelligence and for his expenses from Rhode Island. By the Rules of this Office such articles are not allowable and ask for directions.
