- Folio 702. Letter from James King, Assistant Overseer for the parish of Compton Martin to the Poor Law Board informing them that on his appointment he was proposed by two respectable bondsmen approved by the overseers and parishioners and Mr Hill, the magistrates clerk drew up the Bond. However Mr Mogg of Temple Cloud, Clerk to the Board of Guardians of the Clutton Poor Law Union refuses, without any reason, to accept the parties. King would appreciate the Board making enquiries into the matter. Annotated: send a copy to the clerk for his observations. Paper Number: 35978/1853. Poor Law Union Number 374. Counties: Somerset.
