- Folio 372. Letter from J Rees Mogg [John Rees Mogg] and W Rees Mogg [William Rees Mogg], Clerks to the Guardians of the Clutton Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board regarding their letter 23 February 1852 which enclosed copy of a letter they received from Daniel C Wait of Belluton, [Pensford, Bristol]. In reply the guardians state the estimates were prepared in accordance with the directions contained in the Consolidated Order of the Poor Law Commissioners but on closing the accounts at the end of the half year there was a decrease in the expenditure as compared with the corresponding period of the previous year of upwards of £720, and consequently many of the parishes had large balances in hand. Care will be taken that orders for contributions about to be issued to the Overseers shall be reduced in amount to meet the reformed expenditure of the union. Annotated.
