- Folios 234-235. Letter from J Rees-Mogg [John Rees-Mogg]and W Rees-Mogg [William Rees-Mogg], Clerks to the Guardians, Clutton Union, Temple Cloud, Bristol, to the Poor Law Board asking their opinion about the Union's liability for the payment of expenses incurred when a case under the Nuisances Removal and Diseases Prevention Act,1848, was brought against several people in Chew Magna for harbouring nuisances in their houses but which had then been removed after summonses had been brought, so that the Justices had ruled that there was no case to answer. Annotated: the Poor Law Board can perceive the inconveniences but cannot say that the magistrates' decision had been wrong. Paper Number: 24103/1849. Poor Law Union Number 374. Counties: Somerset.
